march break

Usually since there is no school march break, I am busier than normal with daycar. However this year I had less, so it was a nice break. Monday, we had PJ Day and board games. Tuesday, we took a trip out to Lynde Creek, where we walked the trails and feed the birds and ducks in the beautiful weather. Wednesday and Thursday it was off to the rinks to watch Ryley in a hockey tournament. They won both of their games on Wednesday and the Semi final game Thursday. However, we played against Ryley's old team for the A championships and lost 5-2. Ryley made over 50 saves and it was a good game. Friday, we went to Purple woods conservation area to see how maple syrup was made. It was very busy there, but a beautiful day. We got to have a great lunch of pancakes and maple syrup. We then went to white feather farms and saw some baby chicks, bought some fudge and went to the park. Saturday, Ryley had his first game of two for the A finals for his league. We were winning 2-0 but the other team came back to tie 2-2. We now play them again on Easter weekend; winner takes all. Saturday night was spent with great neighbours at our montly euchre party with me winning the lone hand prize. Sunday is spent getting ready for showcase next weekend; organizing costumes, final fittings, shoes, tights, etc. Tommorrow it is back to reality!!

Our new home away from home

Well we finally did it! After a couple of years of pondering to move up in size from our 16 foot hybrid trailer, we bought a 29 foot motorhome. It is a 2000 Tioga and it is in amazing condition with fairly low mileage. We got a great deal and were excited to bring it home yesterday. Steve said it is very easy to drive and much easier than towing for sure. I am even confident to try a shot at driving it. There was no way I wanted to drive towing our trailer. There is a separate bedroom in the back with a almost queen size bed with a real matress. We have a bathroom and a shower, microwave, fridge, oven, stove, air, furnace, freezer, lots of storage, a queen bed over the cab, a generator and a table and the couch that turns into a bed. We can hardly wait the two months before we can try it out. With travelling for ryley's baseball, we will be able to save some money on hotels and food and have the comforts of home.

winterfest tournament and winter

Friday Ryley and I were headed to Stoney Creek for the Select team's entry into the Winterfest tournament. Let me tell you, I was thrilled to have the day off to spend with Ryley and watch two hockey games; I was even up to the rush hour drive both ways (games were at 11am and 3pm). However, I was not impressed that travelling to the winterfest tournament, that mother nature had to decide it was time for a little winter. It took me over 3 hours to get to the rink. I was not a happy camper. The good thing is that I left in plenty of time, just before 7:30 and got there a little after 10:30 and that it was the other goalie's turn to be in net for the first game. I was not impressed witht the rink and I have been at many. You couldn't even see through the glass and there were no seats and no heaters. On the bright side, the team won the game 6-2. We went out for a spetacular lunch with the team at a little restaurant called the bedrock. Very great service and great food. The second game, Ryley was in net and we won that one too. In fact Ryley got a shutout. We were then on our way home, so that ryley could go to the generals game (he had a box tickets with his house league hockey team). We walked outside and saw that it had decided to snow again while the game was on. I was very close to going to a hotel to stay. However, once we reached the 407, it was clear and sunny and the roads were just wet. It was only a 2 hour ride home. We found out that the team did well enough to get a bye to the semi-finals on sunday. This was great news; we didn't have to travel to hamilton on saturday. Sunday morning, steve, ryley and I left about 7am to a bright and sunny day; figures steve was driving. It was the other goalies turn and we won the game. Unfortunatley, the playoff game wasn't until 4:45; waiting around for 5 hours and during the gold metal game. We travelled to watch friends at a dance competition in Hamilton and went back for the final game. We were tied 1-1 for the longest time and Ryley was in net. We finally pulled ahead to finally win. Of course they had to come in our end during the last 2 minutes of the game for ryley to make a bunch of saves and get me stressed; and at the same time the US scored to tie it up with Canada...too much stress at one time!! We won the game 3-1 and then shortly after Canada scored to win also....what a great way too end a rocky start to the weekend. I am thinking though that I would rather go to a 'springfest' tournament next time!!
