New York

Last Wednesday after work, we headed out to Long Island New York for a baseball tournament for Ryley. Steve's parents came with us. We travelled as far as Syracuse and stopped for the night. The next day, we travelled to Coney Island. That was very interesting with the RV. Apparently on Long Island, the parkways are for passanger cars only as the bridges have height restrictions. To get to Coney Island the fastest way is on the parkway, known as the BELT system. We had to travel through the city streets to get there. Once there, we managed to find a parking lot that accomodated the RV. It was a beautiful day for a stroll along the boardwalk and pier. We stopped and got a famous hot dog and put our feet in the ocean.
We continued on to get to the hotel where our inlaws and the teams would be staying but we had again to go through the city streets to get there. Thank goodness for the old fashioned map. We did get a good feel of Brooklyn and Queens though and the crazy drivers. We arrived at the hotel around dinner time. The parking lot was huge and accomodated our Rv.
The next day, we went to the Bronx with another family to catch the Blue Jays play the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. The Stadium was impressive and beautiful. The Jays even won in extra innings.
We hung out with the team that night and had an early morning on saturday as ryley played at 8 and 12. The diamonds he played out were called Baseball Heaven and they were awesome, complete with astro turf and real dugouts for the teams. Unfortunately the propects lost both of their games but they played well.
The next day they won their first game and lost their second. We went to the outlets near by, but it was very hot. We found a few deals but didn't have a lot of time.
Monday it was time to head home and since it was a day off for the states in lieu of july 4th, there was no traffic heading through manhatten and all the way home. It was a great weekend.
